Ladies We Love Day

This week, I am hosting my first event for Alpha Xi, and I am beyond excited. This Saturday is "Ladies We Love Day," an event for all the sisters and their mothers or significant female role models to visit Northern. This event is always super fun with my friend group. Before the Alpha Xi event, all our moms will join us at Tavern 101. Afterward, we plan to visit a senior's house off-campus to hang out. Bonding with my mom during this new phase of my life is incredibly rewarding. My mom and I are extremely close—I cannot imagine life without her. She is an alumna of Northern and always has hilarious stories from her time on campus.

I personally believe that Mom’s Day, Dad’s Day, Homecoming, and Founders Day are critical events that showcase to alumni and parents the value of their support and financial contributions. Ironically, these events receive the smallest budget—brutal, indeed. However, I am determined to make this year's event memorable and unique for all the lovely ladies attending, even if it means covering expenses out of my pocket. We are planning a make-your-own bouquet activity with lunch, an idea I proposed last year that was not implemented. Today, I started purchasing table covers and dishware for the event and am already approaching our budget limit, yet I still need to buy flowers for about 50 people. This Friday, a few friends and I will head to Trader Joe’s in Columbus to find the most affordable flowers—and pick up some delicious groceries. My goal is to have all the flowers prepped and the entire event set up by Friday night, allowing me to relax on Saturday morning. I prefer not to spend precious time with my mom setting up the event.

Despite the challenges, I am incredibly excited to host this event. I consider myself a pro decorator, so I am eager to decorate and prepare for this year's event. I hope all my sisters and their moms/ladies enjoy this event as much as I will, fostering quality bonding time.

  2. This is so cool! First of all just being able to have the opportunity to host such an amazing event, but also the fact that you get to share your school family and your sorority sisters with your mom and just have everyone together is such a sweet moment that you and your mom will love forever.
